Professor Jaime Campos Ferreira Prize

The Department of Mathematics of Instituto Superior Técnico established in 2002 the Professor Jaime Campos Ferreira Prize, with the simultaneous objectives of distinguishing, for their academic merits in the area of Mathematics, IST students and honouring Professor Jaime Campos Ferreira (1927­-2016), Emeritus Professor at IST, who contributed decisively to the creation and development of the Department and gave an enormous stimulus to the interest in Mathematics of several generations of students.

Awards

2018

By unanimous decision, the jury has awarded the prize to Miguel Miranda Ribeiro Moreira (MMA), Henrique Cravo Esteves dos Santos (MMA), Rodrigo Maria Girão Marques Rodrigues Serrão (MMA), Gabriel da Fonseca Matos (MMA), and ex aequo to João Leandro Câmara Serra (MEEC) and João Pedro Estácio Gaspar Gonçalves de Araújo (MEMec).

2017

The jury awarded the prize to Gabriel da Fonseca Matos (MMA), Luís Pedro Lopes Duarte (MMA), Miguel Martins dos Santos (MMA), Miguel Miranda Ribeiro Moreira (MMA) and Rodrigo Girão Marques Rodrigues Serrão (MMA). An Honorable Mention was awarded to Beatriz Henriques Xavier (MMA).

2015

The jury decided to award the prize to the candidate Miguel Martins dos Santos (LMAC).

2014

The jury decided to award the prize to the candidates João Miguel Lourenço Ribeiro (LMAC) and Diana Zorro Nobre Mesquita Macedo (LMAC).

2013

The jury decided to award the prize to the candidates Jorge Tiago Ferreira António (LMAC) and Raúl Queiroz do Vale de Noronha Penaguião (LMAC).

2012

The jury decided to award the prize to the candidate João Pedro Martins dos Santos (LMAC).

2011

The jury decided to award the prize ex æquo to the candidates Diogo Poças (MMA) and Pedro Vieira (LMAC).

2010

The jury decided to award the prize to the candidate João Leitão Guerreiro (LMAC).

2008

The jury decided to award the prize to the candidate Pedro Miguel Almeida Serra Costa Vitória (LMAC) and honourable mentions to the students Edgar José Martins Dias Costa (LMAC), Gonçalo Marques Fernandes de Oliveira (LEFT), and Ricardo Nuno Melo de Carmo Vaz (LEFT).

2006

The jury decided to award the prize to the candidate Bruno José Conchinha Montalto (LMAC).

2005

The jury decided to award the prize to the candidate Luís Alexandre Meira Fernandes Alves Pereira (LMAC) and also an honourable mention to the candidate João Nuno de Araújo Lopes Laia (LEFT).

2004

The jury decided, unanimously, to award the prize to the candidate Luís M. G. Diogo (LMAC) and also an honourable mention to the candidate Pedro T. A. Figueira (LEA).

2003

The jury decided, unanimously, to award ex æquo the prize to the candidates Ricardo Joel Andrade (LMAC) and Fernando Jorge Machado (LEEC) and, also unanimously, to attribute an Honourable Mention to the candidate Luís M. G. Diogo (LMAC).

2002

The jury decided, unanimously, to award the prize to the candidate João Pedro Pereira Pina (LEC) and, also unanimously, to attribute two Honourable Mentions to Ana Rita Pissarra Pires (LMAC) and Ricardo da Conceição Inglês (LMAC).
