Upon ArrivalThe CAMGSD research center is located in the Department of Mathematics of Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon. A google map of its exact location may be found in the center's web-page. The hotels we work with are all within walking distance to the institute. Details concerning the hotels, including their exact location, may be found in their web-pages. Both the institute and hotels are quite close to the airport. Probably the most convenient thing to do is to take a cab from the airport to either your hotel or to IST (you can get a taxi-voucher at the airport, before exiting). You may also try the Lisbon public transportation system. One option is bus 22, from the Airport to Av. Manuel Maia, right in front of the institute. The Bus system's web-page is here and the Subway system's web-page is here (note that there is no subway to the airport, you must first take a bus in order to connect to the subway system). IST is located at the "Alameda" subway stop. If arriving by train, one should get off at "Gare do Oriente" (not at "Santa Apolónia"). From here one can either take a cab or the subway to "Alameda". Useful information can also be found on the railway station web-page. There are also two local train lines, to Cascais and to Sintra. From the EU and from the USA visas are not required. For other nationalities, we recommend contacting the local Portuguese embassy. A comprehensive list of embassies can be found here. The local currency is the EURO.
