2026: The Year of Math

The U.S. Congress has introduced a resolution to declare 2026 the "Year of Math," to celebrate mathematics as the essential foundation for technological innovation and economic prosperity. This celebration coincides with the U.S.A. hosting the prestigious International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Philadelphia in July 2026. Our department highlights the importance of recognizing the vital role that mathematical and statistical sciences play in modern society as the basis for technological innovation through the curiosity-driven pursuit of knowledge.
